The Office of Research and Publications (ORP)
Through a program of scholarly research and publications, the ORP aims to serve as the center of new knowledge and innovation in various areas of home economics in the country. The thrust of researches in CHE is towards improving the quality of life of Filipino families and preserving cultural heritage. CHE promotes researches that are interdisciplinary; mission-oriented, community-based and family focused with bias towards the underserved.
Functions of the ORP
Policy/ Implementing Guideline Formulation
Formulates policies, guidelines and directions for RCW and publication activities in CHE in consultation with the College’s Executive Board (CEB).
Formulates mechanisms/criteria for evaluation of: RCW proposals for purposes of submission to a funding agency or incorporation into college-wide or university-wide coordinated projects/ programs.
Appoints ad hoc committee to review RCW proposals and publication materials prior to submission, through the proper channels, to the funding agencies and publisher, when appropriate.
Initiates, plans and designs college-wide RCW and publication activities.
RCW and publication activities implementation and coordination
Coordinates RCW and publication activities in the College through optimum utilization of resources.
Assists individual faculty members in the preparation of project proposals and in seeking financial support from funding agencies.
Promotes RCW and publication collaboration with other university units and other outside agencies.
Assists faculty members in disseminating results of RCW and publication undertakings in local and international fora.
Consolidates all relevant information (i.e., approved project proposal and MOA pertaining to all RCW and publication undertakings of students and faculty in the College.
Monitors all RCW activities of the College.
Certifies that the faculty has approved request for use of facilities, research load credit (RLC), and research dissemination grant (RDG).
- CHE Celebrates 90th Anniversary of Home Economics as a Discipline
The College of Home Economics shall celebrate the 90th anniversary of Home Economics as a discipline in the University of the Philippines on November 11, 2011. The college will conduct activities which include lectures and workshops to strengthen the understanding and appreciation of the CHE Faculty towards the discipline.

In behalf of the CHE, I wish to thank all faculty, staff and students who came to the College and dropped off their donations for Tropical Storm Sendong victims.
- CHE Tops 2011 Lantern Competetion
CHE's participation in the Lantern Parade was so overwhelming - thanks to the collaboration between the CHE Student Council headed by its President and Vice President, Ms. Julia Pascual, Ms. Pauline L'AO and the CHE administration through the Student Relations Office led by Asst. Prof. Hannah Faustino, the Office of the College Secretary through Prof. Etchel Tongson and the Office of the Administrative Officer through Mrs. Lulu Palattao.

Dr. Alonzo Gabriel, a faculty of the Department of Food Science and Nutrition (FSN), has received the rank of UP Scientist I during the UP Scientific Productivity Ceremony on October 28, 2011 at the Ang Bahay ng Alumni, UP Diliman.

CHE shall be celebrating two milestones in 2011: its golden year as an institution and its 90th year as a discipline.
